Information for Indiana Voters
You can register to vote in Indiana if you are:
- 18 years old by the day of the next general election;
- A United States citizen;
- A resident of your Indiana precinct at the address given on the voter registration form continuously for at least 30 days;
- Not currently in prison after conviction of a crime.
Information for Military and Overseas Voters
Voter Registration
You can register to vote at various locations within the State of Indiana. These include:
- your county's voter registration office (or the county circuit court clerk's office)
- a Bureau of Motor Vehicles license branch (while applying for or renewing a driver's license)
- at most county headquarters of a political party
You can obtain a mail-in voter registration form from a number of places, including:

- Township Trustee offices
- City and Town Clerks offices, and
- your county's voter registration office

Absentee Voting
You may vote by absentee ballot in Indiana if you are a registered voter and:
- You are outside the county on election day;
- working in another poll on election day;
- confined due to illness, injury or disability;
- age of 65 years or above;
- or scheduled to work during the twelve (12) hours the poll is open (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
You must request an absentee ballot from your county's voter registration office before the election.
Changing your Voter Registration
- You must change your voter registration if you change your name or address.
- You can change your registration by visiting your county's voter registration office or by obtaining a mail-in voter registration form.
- If you move in the last twenty-nine days before an election, you are still eligible to vote. Contact your county's voter registration office.
